Antiques at the Holt

The first Antiques@TheHolt of 2016 took place over the weekend of March 19th & 20th. More than half of the dealers attending would have been familiar to previous visitors to the Holt, while a number of others were returning after missing the previous fair in November 2015. That left enough space for some new faces, and with them, some different specialisations, including furniture, silver, ceramics and silverwares. This page includes brief descriptions of their typical stock, as well as a selection of images. Click on the thumbnails to view enlargements.

For details of dealers attending the next fair at The Holt, please visit the current Dealers page. If you are a dealer, and would like to know more about booking a table for future events, please Contact us, and we will send you the appropriate information.

Tony & Donna Allen - General Antiques

Tony & Donna Allen - General Antiques, Ceramics & Collectables
Tony Allen and his daughter Donna (and it's good to see the younger generation with an interest in antiques dealing!) stand every Friday at the Cirencester Antiques Market, as well as being regulars at Malvern and Righton. They offer a range of traditional antiques and collectables, including silver, ceramics, glasswares, the occasional clock, inkwells, prints and paintings.

Antiques at the Holt

Arcadia Antiques - General Antiques, Collectables and Curios
Andrew Long is one of our most determined supporters, and has yet to miss an Antiques@TheHolt. His table veritably groans with the weight of the interesting selection of antiques and curios he always amasses (plus his very individual shelving system). Expect a few clocks, a bit of Charlotte Rhead, musical instruments, glass, ceramics and some select items of militaria.

Antiques at the Holt

Marilyn Arrigoni - Fine ceramics, Moorcroft, Troika & Silverwares
Making her debut at The Holt this Easter, Marilyn specialises in fine 20th century ceramics, and her stock includes some fine examples of works by the Moorcroft and Troika factories. Her Moorcroft selection is imposing, and includes pieces from the early years as well as more contemporary examples. She will also be displaying glasswares, silver and jewellery.

Val Sparks - Brook Antiques

Brook Collectables - Val Sparks
Val Sparks did us proud last November, with an impressive array of very tasteful antiques, woodenwares and curios. She also brought along some select items of furniture, glasswares and ceramics. Her display beams with beautifully patinated wood, polished brass, the glint of glass, and more often than not, some fresh flowers to highlight the wooden boxes and treen.

Antiques @ The Holt

Michael Collier - Vintage Topographical & Themed Postcards
Mike has one of the most impressive collections of regional topographic postcards we've ever seen. He will bring just a small percentage of his stock to The Holt - perhaps 20,000 cards in total - with an emphasis on local towns and villages in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and the Cotswolds. He tempts us each fair with his Titanic memorabilia, but we can't afford the insurance!

Mike can be contacted through this website

Martin Cox of Cox & Pierce Antiques

Martin Cox - Items of Furniture, Boxes and Collectables
This will be a first visit to The Holt for Martin Cox, who will travel down from Staffordshire to represent Cox & Pierce Antiques. He will display items of small furniture, including chairs, chests of drawers, tables other period pieces, as well as writing slopes, vanity boxes, tea caddies and other items almost exclusively (but not entirely) made from wood.

Peter Forbes Brass - Antiques at the Holt

Peter Forbes - Brass, Door Furniture, Metalwork, Tools & Gentleman's Collectables
Peter Forbes is one of those dealers that everybody knows - not only because he seems to have been around for ever, but because his stock, once seen, is never forgotten. Peter offers genuine antique door furniture, from solid brass knockers, handles and letterboxes, to coathooks, escutcheons and plates. Dotted in among will be a few choice 'Mantiques'.

Peter regularly trades in Oxford (Thursday Market) and Cirencester (Friday) and can be contacted through this website. Additional images from his stock are included on the pages from earlier fairs.

Roy Furniss - Silverwares

Roy Furniss - Silverwares, Fine Ceramics and Glass
After missing the last fair, Roy is back @TheHolt this March with another tempting selection of fine silverware, dotted here and there with some exceptional quality ceramics and glass. Roy, who is a regular at major fairs such as Alexandrea Palace in London, has a fine eye for quality, and seems to find some wonderful examples of the silversmith's art.

Ken & Eveline Gillians - Mixed antiques and collectables

Ken and Eveline Gillians - Mixed Ceramics, Glass & Jewellery
Ken and Eveline are another of our longest-standing dealers, having featured at the Holt for every one of our fairs. They represent the epitome of the traditional dealer, offering a broad spectrum of genuine antiques and collectables, from early stoneware and ceramics, lead crystal glassware and boxes, to small items of furniture and period jewellery.

Glad Bags - General Antiques, Collectables and Vintage Handbags
Gladys Arnott will only be at the Holt for one of the two days - Saturday this time - due to commitments elsewhere. She always achieves an eye-catching mix of vintage and traditional antiques, with a generous smattering of top quality 'ladies accessories', ceramics, glass, silverwares, pictures and jewellery. Gladys also stands at the monthly Benson fair.

Jean Harwood

Jean Harwood - Ceramics, Glass, Antiques & Collectables
Jean says she wouldn't miss a fair at The Holt "for the World", so we're delighted that she's back again this March with more of her carefully selected items. Among her favourite stock items are pieces of art glass (especially blue-green Mdina), porcelain, prints, paintings, silver, jewellery, platedwares and art pottery.

Peter and Janet Herbert

Peter & Janet Herbert - Glass, Ceramics, Silver & Jewellery
Allowing for the upheaval of their recent house move, we're honoured that Peter and Janet are going out of their way to join us at The Holt. Their beautiful array of jewellery and silver always adds a sparkle to the room, and is tastefully off-set by some choice examples of English and continental porcelain and glass.

Dittany Morgan - 18th Century Porcelain

Dittany Morgan - 18th Century English & Chinese Porcelain
Although Dittany’s passion is for early English and Chinese porcelain, from the 18th Century or before, her stock has broadened in recent years to include later examples of top-quality ceramics, particularly teawares, as well as Mauchlineware, crystal glasswares, curios and the occasional Ming dynasty ginger jar, and items of feline interest.

Paul & Judy Norman

Paul & Judy Norman - Furniture, Ceramics, Glasswares and Collectables
Paul and Judy are one of the hardest-working dealers on the circuit, stalling out at two or three fairs almost every week. They return to The Holt with another fine selection of period furniture bedecked with fascinating antiques and collectables. Expect a few writing slopes, some tantali, silverwares, figures, mixed ceramics and some glass.

John Piper - Glasswares

John Piper - Glassware, Metalwares and Collectables
John will be a familiar face to many fairgoers, as he stands at most of the major events in the westcountry, including Malvern, Cirencester and, of course, @TheHolt. Known as "John the Glass" to many of his colleagues, his stock invariably glistens with polished stemware, crystal and imposing examples of the glassblower's art ... alongside equally gleaming pieces of brass and copper.

Winderella - Antiques & Collectables – Ceramics, Glass, Metalware
Elizabeth Winder has had a pitch at The Holt since the first fair, but is also a regular at Oxford’s Gloucester Green market, the monthly Brill fair, Kidlington and elsewhere in Oxfordshire.
