Regular visitors to Antiques@TheHolt noticed some significant changes when they visited the fair in November 2017. Over the previous six to eight months, the new owners of The Holt spent a vast amount of money, and time, refurbishing the hotel. The main function rooms that we use had all been redecorated, with new carpets, wallpaper, lighting and soft furnishings. In addition, there had been some fundamental structural alterations as well.

All this work gave the hotel a fresh new look - brighter and much more contemporary. It has also necessitated a completely new layout to Antiques@TheHolt and the incorporation The Barton Room. There were now two entrances, and a clear, easy-to-follow route that took visitors past every pitch, and allowed plenty of time to browse.

This page includes brief descriptions of typical items from just some of the dealers who attended - but not all! The items illustrated were typical of the type of stock our dealers offer. Click on the thumbnails to view enlargements.

Tony Allen - General Antiques, Ceramics & Collectables
Tony Allen is a stalwart at the Friday Antiques Market in Cirencester's ancient Corn Hall, as well as being a regular at the antiques fairs at Malvern and Ryton-on-Dunsmore. He offers a range of traditional antiques and collectables, including small items of silver, ceramics (including some of the more tasteful figurines!) glasswares, the occasional clock, inkwells, brasswares and trench art.

Arcadia Antiques - General Antiques, Collectables and Curios
Andrew Long has yet to miss a single Antiques@TheHolt, and we're very appreciative of his unswerving support. He's a hard man to categorise, but he always provides an interesting selection of antiques and curios. Expect something musical, a few clocks, some early C20th ceramics, choice examples of glassware, and items of militaria.

Brook Collectables - Val Sparks
Val Sparks does us proud every time she comes to The Holt, with an impressive array of very tasteful antiques, woodenwares and curios. She also brings some select items of furniture, glasswares and ceramics. Her display beams with beautifully patinated wood, polished brass, the glint of glass, and more often than not, some flowers to highlight the wooden boxes and treen.

Andy Briggs - Echo Antiques
Andy has been restoring furniture for nearly 25 years now and will have several examples of his work on display at The Holt, including an Oak cabinet and a Windsor Chair. Other items he has promised to bring include an oak brass-dial longcase clock, some other traditional chairs, a few wine tables, pictures and some brass furniture fittings.

Sheena Davies - Woodenwares, Boxes and Objets de Vertu
We were delighted when Sheena first stood at the Holt, in March last year. She had to miss us in November, but returned in the spring, and is back again now with another wonderful selection of boxes, cabinets, writing slopes, vanity boxes and sewing sets, all beautifully encased in mahogany, rosewood, walnut, satinwood and coromandel.

Mark Ditchburn - Art Deco and Victorian Bronzes, Figures & Ceramics
Anyone who has a passion for the elegance and beauty of the classic Art Deco bronze will instantly appreciate the quality Mark's stock. His stand includes a vast array of genuine period pieces - with flappers, dancers and beautiful nudes supplemented by bronzes of dogs and other animals, as well as choice ceramics from the likes of Wallendorf, Katzhutte, Goldscheider and Hutschenreuther.

Andrew Fleming - Clockmaker, Restorer & Repairer
Based in the Cotswolds just west of Oxford, Andrew is one of the area's foremost repairers and restorers of antique clocks and timepieces. A fellow of the Fellow of the British Horological Institute, Andrew established his workshop some thirty years ago, and now deals in almost everything clockwork, from clocks, toys and music boxes to barometers and barographs.

Peter Forbes - Brass, Door Furniture, Metalwork, Tools & Gentleman's Collectables
Peter Forbes is one of those dealers that everybody knows - not only because he seems to have been around for ever, but because his stock, once seen, is never forgotten. Peter offers genuine antique door furniture, from solid brass knockers, handles and letterboxes, to coathooks, escutcheons and plates. Dotted in among will be a few choice 'Mantiques'.

Ken and Eveline Gillians - Mixed Ceramics, Glass & Jewellery
Ken and Eveline are another of our longest-standing dealers, having featured at the Holt for every one of our fairs. They represent the epitome of the traditional dealer, offering a broad spectrum of genuine antiques and collectables, from early stoneware and ceramics, lead crystal glassware and boxes, to small items of furniture and period jewellery.

Glad Bags - General Antiques, Collectables and Vintage Handbags
Gladys Arnott came back to the Holt for both days in November. She always achieves an eye-catching mix of vintage and traditional antiques, with a generous smattering of top quality 'ladies accessories', ceramics, glass, silverwares, pictures and jewellery. Gladys also stands at the monthly Benson fair, organised by Joy O'Meara.

Jean Harwood - Ceramics, Glass, Antiques & Collectables
Jean has been a regular at The Holt since the beginning, and says she wouldn't miss it "for the World", so we're delighted that she's with us again in March, bringing more of her carefully selected items. Among her favourite stock items are pieces of art glass (especially blue-green Mdina), porcelain, prints, paintings, silver, jewellery, platedwares and art pottery.

Peter & Janet Herbert - Glass, Ceramics, Silver & Jewellery
Peter and Janet can always be relied upon to put on a stunning display of top quality jewellery and watches - perfect Christmas presents every single one! While diamonds, rubies and pearls jostle for pride of place beside Rolex and Omega, there's always some space for some examples of fine glassware by Lalique, or English and continental porcelain and glass.

Dittany Morgan - 18th Century English & Chinese Porcelain
Although Dittany’s passion is for early English and Chinese porcelain, from the 18th Century or before, her stock has broadened in recent years to include later examples of top-quality ceramics, particularly teawares, as well as Mauchlineware, crystal glasswares, curios and the occasional Ming dynasty ginger jar, and items of feline interest.

Graham Newell - General Antiques & Collectables
Graham has stood with us several times over recent years. This November he will bring a selection of British and Foreign silverwares dating from the 18th to the 21st Century, along with a range of ceramics including Royal Worcester, Doulton, Royal Copenhagen and Derby; also present will be some select examples of period jewellery, objets d’art and watercolours.

Paul & Judy Norman - Furniture, Ceramics, Glasswares and Collectables
Paul and Judy are one of the hardest-working dealers on the circuit, stalling out at two or three fairs almost every week. They return to The Holt with another fine selection of period furniture bedecked with fascinating antiques and collectables. Expect small items of furniture, a few writing slopes, some tantali, silverwares, figures, mixed ceramics and some glass.

Mel Osment - Oriental Works of Art and Collectables
We are delighted that Mel joins us again, stalling out beside Mark Ditchburn (as he does at most major fairs across the UK). His array of mainly Oriental works of art is a constant source of wonder, ranging from intricate carvings in jade and ivory, through delicate porcelain and ceramics, to imposing bronzes, wooden carvings and militaria.

John Piper - Glassware, Metalwares and Collectables
John will be a familiar face to many fairgoers, as he stands at most of the major events in the westcountry, including Malvern, Cirencester and, of course, @TheHolt. Known as "John the Glass" to many of his colleagues, his stock invariably glistens with polished stemware, crystal and imposing examples of the glassblower's art ... alongside equally gleaming pieces of brass and copper.

Graham Puddephatt - Art Deco, Jewellery and Crystal
We welcomed Graham to The Holt for the first time in March 2017, and he's returning this Autumn with a slightly revised approach to stock - even more of his stunning cut-crystal stemware glass, gold and silver period jewellery (as well as some contemporary items) and his much appreciated selection of Art Deco figures, lights and ceramics. As featured in the ATG, of course!

Farhad Shakouri - Fine Jewellery, Silver and Collectables
This will be Farhad's return visit to The Holt, and judging by the accompanying images, will be bringing a fine array of beautiful stock, including antique and vintage rings, necklaces and brooches, as well as some carefully selected items of fine silver. Farhad has a exceptional eye for top-quality gems, but also finds some equally delightful antiques and collectables.

Stephen Rees - Collectables
With more than 20 years' experience as a dealer in collectable antiques, Stephen's stall is a treasure trove of the kind of fascinating items that visitors can't walk by without a good "ruttle". Penknives, pieces of treen, militaria, vintage watches, medals, carefully selected ceramics, brassware, silver, leathergoods, lighters, pieces of jewellery, and much more.

David & Rosemary Smith - R&D Antiques
David and Rosemary trade as R&D Antiques, and stall out at fairs all across the south of England. Their stock truly is "an eclectic mix", with Rosemary favouring silverwares, glass, period jewellery, and a variety of oriental wares, especially cloisonnée enamels, while David has an eye for the curious, the quirky and the unusual - items of more masculine interest, perhaps.

Michael & Diana Turner - Silver, Ceramics and Collectables
Michael and Diana stood for both days in March, but are down to a single day this November, with commitments elsewhere on the Sunday. Their impressive array of genuine antiques includes a eye-watering amount of silver, top-quality ceramics, early glass, woodenwares (including boxes, writing slopes and marquetry) and porcelain.

Michael & Rosemary Wyber – Jewellery, Ceramics, Pictures & Collectables
Michael and Rosemary will be familiar to many Cotswold-based collectors, who will have encountered their attractively-presented stock at fairs across the region, including the Friday market in Cirencester. Rosemary has a keen eye for decorative items, with "ladies' accessories" vying for attention alongside jewellery, glass & ceramics.

Edwin Woodley – Mixed Antiques & Collectables
Edwin's intriguing stock has always been admired whenever he's appeared at The Holt - and was a particular favourite with Charlie Ross back in 2015. Edwin's eclectic mix includes silverware, ceramics, glasswares, painting & prints, examples of Victorian and Edwardian woodenwork, cut glass and bronze & spelter figures.
